White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove today spoke for the second time in two weeks at a private meeting of House Republicans to seek a compromise between the Senate and the House.
Rove, during his appearance, heard complaints from representatives who oppose the Senate's immigration proposal, according to lawmakers who attended.
``Even I, optimistic as I am about a lot of things around here, see an immigration bill -- with so few calendar days left - - hard to reconcile,'' said Representative Mark Foley, a Florida Republican who attended the meeting.
Majority
Ron Bonjean, a spokesman for House Speaker Dennis Hastert, said Hastert won't move a final compromise measure to the House floor unless it is supported by a majority of the House's 231 Republicans -- not a majority of all House members.
``The speaker believes in passing an immigration bill with a majority of the majority,'' Bonjean said.
Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told reporters that passage of a final measure may be helpful in fall elections in which Republicans have ``the wind in our face'' as they work to keep control of the House.

Call me paranoid...but I am wondering the exact same thing that how come Tancredo, et.al. are not making any noises...if you remember last time these congressmen were making a lot of noise and the bill went nowhere, now in hindsight, I think internally they knew that the bill will not pass the senate at that time and were making the most of it. Similarly, the silence is ominous because it means they probably have some surprises lined up at the conference. BTW, do we know who will be on the conference from both the Senate as well as the house? Also, are the conference proceedings publicised?

Ok, this is something I don't think I have an eye for at all (or have ever had an eye for, yet).
I have a photo project for a other photo study I'm taken. It's to photo a beauiful outdoor vista (any outdoor scene I pick).
The objective is to produce a picture that gives a feeling of distance-a feeling of near or far.
The subject is to photo a wonderful view that stretches as far as the eye can see.
So am I even close or maybe getting close to achieving this?
What do you think?

What took you sooo long to wake up from the slumber and realize that you need to get paid? Look up WH4 and complain to DOL. Look for the contents in the Neufield memo as well.

As long as your DOL job code is same or similar between your approved labor and new job you will be ok.

This is my first post. I had filed 485/140 in Aug. 2007. 140 got approved this March 2008. I donot have pay stub for last 3 months. I am looking for change. My labor is a substituted one( PD 2004). It has skills mentioned of Oracle EBS. I am working on Java/J2EE. I am looking for a new Job with Java/J2EE skills. I am worried that my new offer letter with Java skills mentioned would create a problem for me.
Please Gurus, can you advice me as to whether I can do that? Will staying on bench create a problem, as I donot get salary on bench.

Every American who owns an IPOD and can surf the web thinks that he is hi-tech....
Americans still expect six figues salaries after high school educaiton....
My boss has been trying to hire a couple of EEs since the past couple of months but is not successful.....Ultimately he had to request me to find Indians graduating in the coming fall semester from the local university....
Also the poll shoule be structured as "Do you think American school system is not producing enough skilled workers with knowledge in STEM fields?"
'High tech jobs' and 'qualified workers' are all distractive terms for the larger malice in place: Americans taking for granted that jobs will be lined for them when they step out of college.
As a matter of fact Mr. Lou Dobbs is doing a big disservice to the American people by lying and not encounraging them to face the harsh truth that there is a lot of competition out there and please be prepared to face it.

But this wasn't told to me (us) by my company's hr, I guess I got to check that advise for second opinion.
I dont know what your comapny lawyer(you say HR they are least qualified for such advices in majority of situation) told you, but i know that you must posses the AP document in hand before u leave the country to use it for reentry. I think ur wife will recieve the passport soon ( this is due to glitch in the new PIMS verfication system) .You cant do much in this situation but just be paitient.

agree with amsgc regarding H1 "transfer"
AFAIK,

Mine is Feb 2007 NSC. I-140 got RFE on Oct will be replying sometime this week.
Looks like they may work on May 2007 cases sometime this month occording to NSC progress.

I am just curious, if you were on H-1B or have used EAD. If you had used EAD, did you work during these 3 months.
Infact, I got good news today. My MTR approved after 3 months. My 485 was denied due to withdrawal of I140 by previous employer (AC21 case).
So I had applied MTR and approved today. Looks like USCIS understood the error and approving all MTR (I didn't hear a single MTR rejection on AC21 case )

Thanks deecha.. I will keep the gang in loop... The future role will be of a chief architect. So I believe it is aligned with my current labor application. But can I even move using an EAD (hence dropping my H1) and then file my EB2 in the new company? The reason I am confused is, we used an H1 b visa to file the labor, not sure if a labor can be filed using an EAD.
I don't believe H1B has anything to do with filing a Labor Certification for a EB Green card. An employer can file LC for a position even when a candidate is outside the country. they are two separate tracks.
What you may be thinking is the answer to the question about a candidate's status. In your case it's simply AOS (Adjustment of Status). You will definitely have to consult a good lawyer.

Did you already applied for H1 extention and got RFE or you are just assuming you might get RFE. I recently applied extention for another 3 years and got it successfully. Our AOS is also pending. So dont worry. Anyway it is you choice to use EAD and extend every year.

You applied at the right service center TSC. I also live in NC and applied on July 25th at TSC and got the Receipt notices.
Did you check the processing dates for TSC for I765? I think currently they are processing applications applied before April 16, 2008.
So dont worry.. But you may call TSC Service center for any status

Invoke AC21 irrespective of whether you are joining the new employer on EAD/H1.
I shifted employers too, my new attorney said it was best to transfer h1b and then do ac21 to take care of gc process. My h1 was approved in 4 days, with premium processing.
AC21 papers sent in first week of dec.
Stay on h1.

Some people did not notice that you are not illegal immigrant, you are going thru legal process just like everyone else here. US legal system provides a way to reconcile overstay/out of status situation.
Anyway, you cannot use your lottery case as that visa number expired back in 03.

Now he will bash legal immigration saying all legal immigrants are actually illegals. Please try to use your brains, maybe just a couple of times every few years.
