If your PD is in May'06 or early Jun'06, I think paying a visit to USCIS center won't hurt. Checking online status is a waste of time. At least you'll know what's going on with it. The IO I went to was very nice lady and gave me all the details. I thought that there would a line of GC aspirants like me :) waiting in USCIS center (in bay area) but to my surprise it was empty! Hope this helps

For my spouse,
We have applied for I 485 after our visit to India.
1. First I 94 was taken at the airport and got the new one while we came back and one of the requirement is the copy of I 94
How and where can I get a copy (I never made a copy of that).
Note: Spouse passport has stamping but the requirement is copy of I 94
any help or suggestoins where can we get a copy. We have applied for states Id's in two different states where they made copies of I 94 but at that time I never though of making copies of it.

i kept telling you guys since last week
send faxes to congress /house...it is in the house where bills get structured.
make sure u add only the SKIL bill...just remove cap for ppl with advanced us degrees...that was the only thing the house had agreed to consider
but everyone on this forum ignored me

that is not a backlog in the sense of retrogression based backlog. That is like any other processing time for any other type of application

provided u workout with the employer that they don't cancel the 140 after u move or u cannot port the priority date ....
this is not true. you can port the I 140 even if the employer has USCIS cancel the I140.
you CANNOT port PD from an approved I140 if I140 was revoked due to fraud.

This due to increased fee coming to effect after July.
The increased fee went in on July 31, 2007 and as far as I know, no relief in fee was provided to naturalization applicants unlike I-485 applicants till Aug 17. Still many naturalization applications were filed in Aug 2007.
Looks like the I-485 wave swept the naturalization applicants too :)

Report indicates that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Rep. Nydia Velasquez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) will meet with President Barack Obama this afternoon to talk about the chances of getting comprehensive immigration reform or the DREAM Act passed in the lame duck session, signaling the Democrats, Hispanics, and Obama turning their posture in CIR or DREAM from "defensive" to "offensive" strategy, by going forward with the all-court pressing DREAM or CIR during the Lame Duck session. For this apparent strategy, time is indeed short and running out. There was also report that the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) could bring the DREAM Act to the floor as early as this week. This strategy will push and corner Republicans to the "defensive" position in connection with the 2012 Presidential and another national election. For this matter, the Democrats have nothing to lose by pushing for DREAM or CIR during this Lame Duck session while they are in a majority position. Failure to pass the DREAM Act during the Lame Duck session will be placed on the Republicans, which are likely to bring about some Republican casualties and political liabilities in 2012 election. From the perspecitives of the DREAM activists, this is indeed considered a last chance and they are taking an aggressive position to take advantage of such political strategy of the Democrats. Go for consulting job where you can stick to one company and continue your gc process. You will get better paid, you will meet more people, you will learn more and once you get green card you will have options to choose from the contacts.

Personally I like the idea of not having a comprehensive reform !
Not that I am against immigration reforms...
But i feel it is important to distinguish between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration !!!
CIR was a thorn to many -- mostly because of the amnesty... or whatever for the ILLEGALS...
Having a seperate bill/bills for Legal Immigration Backlog clearance is the way to go :)
Brighter chances for it to pass... and that too sooner..
Just my 2 cents.

I can't think of anything other than getting the company immigration lawyer's help in this case.
On another note, all of here with pending GC processes, should be ready to face the prospect of going back to our home countries. "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst".

Thanks for your responses. The hospital staff told us it would take 60-90 days to get the SSN. I am stuck until that arrives because only then can I apply for the passport. Any way to get around it?
You don't need SSN to apply for a passport for a baby. PIO card takes about two weeks to process in SFO. I dont think there is any fast processing available for PIO.

How long did it take for your MTR process from the time you submitted till the time your attorney received the I485 re-opening letter?
Specifically, how long after sending MTR did you get the receipt notice that MTR was receive and how many days after that did the letter to reopen arrive?
I have an d MTR in the works in TX service center and trying to find how long they are taking these days.
My MTR got approved in 2 months from TSC.
But online status for I485 is not changed yet...... Does anyone has any idea of what process they follow for MTR reopening and I485 status update?

Not a bad idea, we can request for increase in the availability of green card numbers, as their are a lot of immigrants who are waiting to be potential home buyers, only obstacle in their path is a lack of green card.
Well we can come with a list of some senators we can call, and send numerous fax letters to Pelosi's office. How about we call and send a fax our degree copy and our letter.

US Media standards reached a new low with their double-standards in covering the Iranian election protests. Looks like US media wants to manipulate their citizens with one-sided information and only those news that media DECIDES are in the interest of the people.
Why is US bothered about the protests in Iran regarding elections? BBC, CNN and other media is flaming those young protester's passions. If you see the comments on these news sites, they all come from Iranians under 25 yrs..everyone knows that is hot-blood age and people take defeat to heart. Media is showing this as a civil war :D
How about the civil war in Iraq? How about the protests of Indian students in Australia and the racial attacks on them? How about the recent massacre of tamilians in SriLanka?
Afterall, US media is no different than third-world mafia which can go to any extent to SELL their version..hopefully people have not yet forgotten about the WMD in Iraq :D
US Media should take care of the domestic issues in US rather than posting biased news and flaming young adults in other countries...
Self-righteousness and justification of the politicians is shameful to say the least while complaining about the Iran protests while covering up the rapes and abuses in US prisons. And US will not allow Iran to have a nuke :D can you believe that coming out of the only country which used nukes on CIVILIANS and that too TWICE :D
Ron Paul is right...US should mind their own business instead of maintaining a world empire...lets get the financial crisis mess cleared up..lets get the people back to work and reduce unemployment...why all the hypocrisy, what for??
