Anyway, environmentalist or not, what do you think about the Fit's overall city and highway gas mileage? And does it really beat the Prius in overall gas mileage? Toyota also has a very similar small type of car that is totally sexy. To me, small is sexy (but not Smart Car), and I could parallel park easier than my huge SW, and get great gas mileage.
I have also considered Mazda 3 and Pontiac Vibe.
Where the Fit excels is its interior volume. It is seriously like the Tardis in its ability to betray its small appearance on the outside with its actual capacity inside. For example, I have filled it with a family of four's luggage and knick-knacks for a week-long trip, with room to spare.
Mileage is as advertised, mostly high-20's squirting around town, nearer to high-30's with the cruise set for hours at highway speeds. I don't have the knowledge to compare it to the Prius, but I will say that the Fit's interior fit-and-finish, while well-detailed and more than adequate, is "cheaper" than the Prius, and maybe even my old Civic's.

3. Processor speed for phones is overrated, especially when apps are written to account for legacy hardware in the wild. No one is going to write an A-5 only App as long as the iPad 1, iPhone 4 & 3GS level tech remains so widely held.

Its about elegance and love. We dont just use our Macs they become friends and part of the family. We dont just look at them as computers but extensions of ourselves. No system is perfect but for us this is as close as we can get to perfection. So many of the things you said you can do on your Windows machine I dont doubt I just know we can do it easier and usually were able to do it well before you could. You mistake pride for bigotry. Yes I will admit that you can play more games than I can but thats what the PS2. gamecube and X box are for. About price, I agree the sticker shock is that the Mac is more expensive but when you look at what you get with it. especially in the video editing realm you start to realize that the windows side doesnt have anything anything to compare with it. Not without having to pay at least a few hundred dollars for. Sure you built your own machine but wheres the tech support or the warranty. Any of those parts go bad and you'll be replacing them yourself. Theres more cost built in to building than many people choose to admit. Fact is we all live in a world that runs on Windows machines. Office's are full of beige boxes that sometimes manage to get through a day of email and excel. What you may not think about is that while the penny pushers may move the money from place to place on a windows machine the marketing side usually gets the products sold on a Mac. Advertising firms and creative agencies that market the worlds products do it on a much more stable environment. So dont think of it as bigotry but instead a sense of pride that... well I saw a T-shirt on a guy in the Apple store on Friday night that said it best. "Its a Mac thing, you wouldnt understand"

I think you're misinformed. The current models simply combined the 1/8" in and out jacks into one port (TRRS), just like the port on the iPhone. For example, you can plug your iPhone headphones into your Mac for use as a headset.

This is pretty sweet, and a good deal for apple, but i'd rather see airlines spend the money on putting standard outlets at each seat. Then i can charge my Macbook Pro, iPod, cellphone, camcorder or bring along a big firewire drive to get a start on my video editing with, ect. From the airlines point of view, i think it makes more sense to install something that most passengers would find useful instead of something that only Apple users find useful.

I know you're being at least somewhat sarcastic, but I'd like to see you get something better from a hand-held 1/60 sec exposure at F2.0 and the ISO set to 3200.
It is amazing that this is even possible without image stabilization. I mean...ISO 3200!

Yep... Considering Apple did nothing to provide a Snow Leopard Server connector for Windows 7 and beyond, kinda makes Apple's server offering redundant in a mixed-platform environment these days... SLS in name had potential... but... whats under the hood isn't up to the quality of the Apple logo.
Great to see some EFFORT on polishing the server. Based on my experience using it over the last 18 months, they would have to give me the next version in order to even consider it... Guess they are :)

Take a look at the light bleeding in the lower right. I'm thinking of returning it, and getting another unit. Thought I'd post first to see if this is normal with all units.

They rated it as their BEST smartphone, but said they wouldn't recommend it.
How does that make any sense?
Because the signal attenuation due to the design was abnormally high. 20-25dB attenuation that can be accomplished by simply touching the tip of your pinky finger on the gap or in the normal position when making calls. That is a design problem and something that should not have made it out of QC.
Overall it is a fantastic device, albeit with an antenna issue. People who only use the phone in very strong signal areas won't notice or be bothered by it. For a majority of people who live in those areas and only use the phone in those areas it isn't problematic. But you either accept what reality is or continue to delude yourself into thinking that there is no design problem with the antenna. It's a simple black and white issue.
If I was using an IOS device for my phone I'd have no problem buying an Iphone 4 because I understand its limitations going in. I wouldn't be insane enough to claim that because I had no signal issues in my daily use that it was evidence there was no attenuation problem.

it's a bit cliche that song now. but i do love rage against the machine. that whole album is a work of art. one of the few albums I can listen to all the way through without skipping a track...
OT, i hope the band get together for a whole album again. be interesting to see how different the music would sound now these days. i dont think tom & the rest of the band have developed much (audioslave) but zac's work (what little he has done) since rage has been interesting...

The one in bold is what I see the most. I've done photography for years and see new people get into the game and worry about the wrong things. Photoshop being one of them. Photoshop shouldn't even come to someones mind.
Learn the camera, learn composition, learn lighting, learn photographic techniques to get what you want such as second curtain sync, hyperfocal distancing, etc. Once you can get it done right in camera then you can take it to the next level in photoshop (skin smoothing, removing hair wisps, correcting lens distortion, etc.).
Too many people want to be a pro right out of the gate, they buy photoshop, get a NAPP membership, a fancy computer (that is 99% of the time overkill), raid storage when they've only shot 500 pictures, etc but never bother to learn the fundamentals.
I'm all for learning on Digital, I think it helps someone learn better, but focus on learning the most important and fundamental things first, then learn about the post processing. A picture can still look fantastic without running it through photoshop.

Anyone know when Comcast's real live streaming will happen? They still claim to have had the first "streaming" app, but all it is is a player for the crappiest crap nobody wants to see, and has no live TV options (even though they promised in then "early 2011" now overdue). I just realized. If AT&T and Comcast were a couple, the dishes would pile up, and the trash would never get taken out. They both are the biggest and yet set expectations and ignore any attempt of meeting them, haha
